Sensitization Ahead of Mbarara Plea Bargaining Camp
The Plea Bargaining Camp sanitization at Mbarara High Court

Mbarara High Court Circuit Judges; Hon. Lady Justice Joyce Kavuma and Hon. Justice Allan Nshimye spent the afternoon at Mbarara Main Prison sensitizing inmates about Plea Bargaining.

They were joined by the Deputy Registrar, HW Zulaika Nanteza, other Judicial officers attached to the Court, officers from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Uganda Prisons Services and a team of advocates.

The sensitization was to create awareness of the fast access to justice initiative ahead of a Plea Bargaining Camp and to also caution the inmates to enroll for the programme if they are certain that they are innocent.

The Plea Bargaining Camp will be held on March 11 and 12th. At least 106 inmates charged with capital offences are set participate in the Camp.

The bulk of the sentences to be Plea Bargained are Defilement, followed by Murder and Aggravated Defilement.
